Construction

Proposed changes to the construction adjudication process are contained in the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Bill.  The Bill has now passed from the House of Lords to the House of Commons, where the second reading is scheduled for Monday 1 June 2009.

Employment Tribunals

Over two thirds of solicitors questioned in recent research conducted by the Law Society, indicated that they favoured the removal of the current £25,000 limit for breach of contract claims in employment tribunals.

Commercial Litigation Costs

A preliminary report on the subject of litigation costs has been published by Lord Justice Jackson.  This report forms the first phase of an ongoing review which has now reached its consultation stages.

Internet Libels

A recent decision of the European Court of Human Rights (Times Newspapers Limited (nos 1 and 2) –v- the UK) has upheld the one year limitation period for internet libels and refused to hold that it is prima facie a breach of Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights.  Where articles are published and accessed online, there is in effect a separate publication on each occasion the article is accessed.  This results in the limitation period for online publication being effectively extended indefinitely.  The judgment, however, included comment that a significant lapse of time before libel proceedings are brought may well disproportionately interfere with press freedom under article 10.

WELCOME to our site!

Lowry & Co.is a different and very modern law firm.

WE COMBINE THE BEST ASPECTS OF LEGAL PRACTICE FROM THE PAST WITH EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES, IN ORDER TO CREATE A HIGHLY COST EFFECTIVE, COMMERCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY SOLUTION FOR YOUR LEGAL NEEDS.

The legal profession has long been in need of change. We wanted to do things differently. The result is Lowry & Co.

Founded in 2009, Lowry & Co. is a firm that, through the use of leading edge technology, has largely removed the need for the conventional law office, large teams of support staff and the daily commute, together with their associated environmental impact. We also work actively towards creating as paperless a practice as possible, while complying with all the obligations we have to our professional regulator and to the courts.

The benefit to you, as a client, is that these reductions in overhead are reflected in our charging structure. You will immediately notice the difference in our fees when compared to those of a conventional law firm. The differences do not end there. You will also see that the technologies we use allow us to provide a highly responsive and secure service, enabling a much higher degree of client collaboration and access than can be found in other law firms.

HOW ARE WE DIFFERENT?
  LEGAL SERVICES

Lowry & Co.is a full service commercial law firm. All of our lawyers have over 5 years experience, most have considerably more. We believe that you should not pay for training junior or trainee solicitors, or indeed contribute towards a conventional law firm’s considerable offices.

We act for commercial organisations and individuals across a wide range of sectors. Please click on the Services section to find out more.
